A cause-based organic, vegan market in downtown Los Angeles and Atlanta.

Nestled in a small storefront on the edge of downtown Los Angeles sits the wonderfully eclectic LaRayia’s Bodega. But don’t let the unassuming nature of this little shop fool you because inside you’ll find one of the most beautiful souls around, LaRayia Gaston. Her goal for the bodega was to fight food injustice, food waste, and homelessness by providing healthy (and vegan) meals and goods at prices well below your typical L.A. costs. LaRayia’s story was so inspiring that we took on the task of helping her rebrand the store as part of a Black Owned Business Grant that we created during the summer of 2020 in reaction to the disproportionate number of African Americans economically affected by Covid-19. Taking inspiration from LaRayia’s Afro-Puerto Rican roots and adding in a handful of Egyptian flair, we created a visual language that’s as diverse as LaRayia and her patrons. Some of the many items we worked on in addition to the logo were a custom typeface, illustrations, storefront signage, packaging, and clothing. All this combined has created a playful look that will hopefully bring more positive vibes and attention to this great little bodega.

LaRayia's Bodega

Working with Italic Studio has been one of the highlights of LaRayia’s Bodega. I’ve never worked with a more professional and pleasant team. They are attentive to your needs and vision. Their execution far exceeded expectations. From beginning to end, they were by far one of the best talents we’ve been blessed to create with.
