Style without compromise in sunny Los Angeles.

When Proper Hotels decided to introduce a sister brand that reflected their core values in experience and aesthetic at a lower price point, they brought us on to design the brand identity from the ground up. Why June? June embodies the California ethos. It nods to the lifestyle — progressive, young, active, cheerful, laid-back. June is the start of summer, a state of mind, and Hotel June is a place for new beginnings. It’s truehearted, full of wonder, and sunny, no matter what the weather. It’s a casual stay, a neighborhood hangout, a place for travelers to find a brief home and for locals to escape. June is a Saturday afternoon—all year long.

We are so grateful for Matt, Ron and the entire Italic team, who we brought on as our creative partners when creating Hotel June, the sister brand to our Proper Hotels brand. Matt and Ron are extremely talented and we were incredibly impressed with their ability to turn our thoughts and vision for the brand into reality; through every step of the process, from naming & logos to collateral & marketing materials. Italic Studio stayed committed, focused, and professional from the beginning to the end. We can’t thank them enough for their work, which exceeded our expectations. I’ve since recommended Italic Studio to some of my closest friends for their creative projects, and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Italic to anyone looking for a collaborative and professional, multidisciplinary creative studio for their next project.

Caravan Swim Club and Scenic Route are two of Hotel June’s on-site dining concepts helmed by Steve Livigni from award-winning Scopa, with menus inspired by a culinary road trip from Santa Barbara to Northern Baja, Mexico. The breezy Baja-inspired Caravan Swim Club is a poolside gathering place for everything from cabana drinks to fire pit gatherings, creative meetings to laid-back lounging. Our goal with the branding of both restaurants was to capture that feeling of the California coastal road trip, while also fitting naturally with the branding palette we established for the hotel itself.
